New start

I cannot believe I've been the worst about keeping this blog updated, but I have a new plan for the new year. Videos! I got an awesome Flip camera for Christmas, so I can more easily share some of the hilarious things the girls do! I recorded some last night, and I haven't uploaded them yet, but I'm going to go for the New Year's resolution of updating here with videos often. It's easier than losing weight or something like that.

Also, Jenny may manage to update her blog more often then I do.

New Songs by Jenny

Jenny's been writing songs again. They're very serious, and I'm not sure where she gets this from. She says they're stories though.

Leave Me Alone
by Jenny

One day on my way back home
I couldn't find a way
You came and said to me
Are you ready
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
So I walked away
Cryin wonderin what would happen next
So when I stepped up to the door
There was a note that said
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
When I walked in the house
I went up the stairs and into my room
And as I walked in the phone rang
When I picked it up he said
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
Get out of my life
Leave me alone
I don't wanna see you anymore
I walked over to my bed and laid down
And said to myself goodnight
Leave me alone

Finally
by Jenny

Finally found someone who will understand
Finally found someone who cares about me
But since you left...
I've been so awesome, cool, good without you
Totally wicked cool
School is fine
Don't mind
Just live your life and leave me alone
When you hang up the phone
Just leave me alone
And I'll tell you something
Are you ready
Cause I'm awesome, cool, good without you
Totally wicked cool
School is fine
Don't mind
Just live your life and leave me alone

Finally is apparently not finished yet, so she still wants to work on it. I actually thought parts of these might be from some real songs she knows, but she says they're not, and I can't think of any songs with these lyrics. I love the songs though.

Happy Birthday (Yesterday) to Jenny!

Jenny turned 8 yesterday, which is so hard for me to believe, but it's true! The best news is that she's out of a car seat. We got her a little netbook computer to be all hers for her birthday, and she got lots of other fun stuff from friends and family, so I think she's pretty satisfied (or at least should be). And she had a fun birthday party at the movie theater, where we saw Ice Age in 3-D. 3-D movies are always fun. Here are a couple pictures from the big day. Doesn't she look grown up?

Jenny's Writing

We went to an end of year celebration at Jenny's school tonight, and they gave us folders with all of her writing for the year that seemed like perfect blog posts to me! I'm not going to post them all tonight (even thought I'm tempted because some are so great), but I will post a couple of my favorites.

I'll start with a long one, Jenny's first story for the year. All spelling is Jenny's. You'll have to miss out on the illustrations because I don't feel like scanning.

One sunny bright day I went outsid to feed my fish. As I tossed the food in 1 of them hit the lilypad and a door opened. As it opened my mouth opened in big surprize. I could tell something fishy was going on because I could see my dog sniffing the water. It had a small sighn that said hi. Don't come in inless you have glitter.

I had no clue what to do because there is a seceret door in my back in my pond on a lilypad!!! I was freeking out about if I should go in because I would like to no why what ever is in there would need glitter?

As I was looking in the door I saw some glittery wings quickly zooming past the door so I coulden't see what was behind the door because all I no is there is a seceret door in my pond and it is making me want to jump in so I have made my disijan and they answer is...yes.

Once I was in, a fairy handed me pink lemonade and some blue balloons. It was so cool! I coulden't beleve what I saw, little people with sparkly wings. I wished I could stay here forever but I can't. I had to quickly get ready to go because I could here my mom calling my name!

All the fairies quickly shuved me out right when my mom was about to get mad. My mom took me inside and kept on going on about how worried she was. But still I will do it again tomorrow.

Now one poem:

Jenny

Brown hair
Brown eyes
Pearst ears
2nd grader
Smart girl
Recycle
Chores
Tan skin
Big sister
Hales Heartbreaker
I am glad to be me

And last for tonight, one journal entry. I would say she revealed some things about life that she didn't really need to, but that's okay.

September 29, 2008

Dear Mrs. Hale,
Over the weekend me and my sister spend are time cleaning. It was fun. I was washing dishes. My sister was getting the laundry. And then we both cleaned are room. It was a dauzaster. Reagan shuved every thing under her bed. I did to. But for no reason. Then we did what ever we want. Well now that I think about it we went to jump on the trampaoleen with are friend Brittan. It was fun.

Love,
Jenny

More to come!

Happy Mother's Day

I'm now relaxing and making myself some new CDs for Mother's Day, and it occurred to me that I've been doing a really bad job of keeping the blog updated because it's just so much easier to do quick updates on Twitter. So I thought I would do a quick post with some of the pictures that we took at the park yesterday. I took the girls to take some pictures to frame and give to our moms for Mother's Day, and they turned out so well!

Fun Meet

Jenny had her Fun Meet at gymnastics today, and it was pretty cool. She placed 1st in her group on the balance beam, 4th in vault and foor exercise, 7th in bars, and 4th all-around. Pretty impressive for her first meet ever!

Prom

Apparently Reagan enjoyed the prom. Her initial report was, "Yay! I wasn't prom queen!" So it was everything she dreamed.

I found out yesterday that parents were supposed to go, but I wasn't even in town today, so I didn't get to. I'm hoping one of the parents who did go will give copies of some pictures, but for now, here are a couple of Reagan in her prom outfit.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

We've had a nice day at home, starting with early morning Easter baskets. We've also had a few family rounds of Trivial Pursuit (which I've won, and Lee's really happy about it).

Here are a couple pictures, with a few more posted on flickr.

Also, since I've been on Twitter for a few weeks, I've been thinking about using it more. I realized one major way it can be useful to me is that I can tweet funny little one-liners from the girls. Since I pretty much always have my phone with me, I can just send a text, and it's much easier than trying to remember everything for a blog post later.

Conversations with Reagan

Everyone who reads this blog: You must be so jealous that you can't have these conversations all the time.

This evening on the way home from gymnastics:

Reagan - Mommy...(in a really whiny voice)...I'm worried about getting my blood drained.

I'm not sure what brought that on, but I'm sure it had nothing to do with vampires.

This morning on the way to school:

Reagan - Are you and daddy going to die before me and Jenny?
Me - Probably.
Reagan - Do you know when it will be?
Me - No.
Reagan - When you're old old, not just when you're a little old?
Me - Probably.

Sunday on the way back from Hilton Head:

Jenny - Have you seen Ever After?
Me - Yes.
Jenny - It came on Oxygen. And then What A Girl Wants. And then Can't Buy Me Love.
Me - The Patrick Dempsey movie.
Reagan - It had Ronald Miller and Cindy. Ronald Miller and Cindy had S-E-S in it.
Jenny - It's S-E-X, Reagan, not S-E-S.

Last night, when looking at potential prom dresses for next week's pre-K prom at daycare:

Reagan - Kayla's going to wear a tank top dress, but I don't want to do that because I'm worried I'll look too sexy.

We're Back!

Now that I have my Mac back home safely, I can blog again! I'm uploading some new pictures to Flickr from the last month, and I'll start with some new Youtube videos. There are several new ones there, and I'll include some previews here. These videos are all courtesy of Uncle Mario.

Prom!

Reagan's class is having a prom in the middle of April! It will be so much fun (even though it's in the middle of the day). They're even going to take prom pictures. It will be a semi-formal event, and Reagan has declared that she wants to go with a girl because she doesn't like boys. And she wants to wear pants and a shirt instead of a dress.

Reagan's Heart

Reagan and I had a lot of deep conversations on the way home from daycare yesterday. Mostly she just had a lot to say about her day. Here are some of the highlights:

-I don't know if I can give my best friend Alexi a valentine's card on Friday because she punched a baby doll at my heart.
-That's not showing me respect, and I told her that she has to show me respect.
-I tell all my friends that we just have to respect each other.
-You're not supposed to punch baby dolls.
-I mean, she punched a baby doll at my HEART. My heart is for love. It's not for punching time. Right, mommy?

Deep, huh?

Go Steelers!

We're getting geared up for the Super Bowl, and Reagan's Bendaroos arrived yesterday, so the girls decided to use them to decorate the family room for the big game.

Knock Knock

I think Jenny and Reagan are going to write a great Knock Knock joke book soon. They just made up about a hundred knock knock jokes on the way home from breakfast. A couple highlights:

Jenny:
Knock Knock.
Who's there?
IHOP.
IHOP who?
IHOP you get there soon.
And then she explains that she means like I hope.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Taco.
Taco who?
Tacos are gross.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Chick-fil-a.
Chick-fil-a who?
Chick-fil-a is the best place in the world.

None of Reagan's make any sense, so they're amazing.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
House.
House who?
House Morocco Bama White House American flag.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Road.
Road who?
I'll fix your car.

Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Shell.
Shell who?
Shell sea.

Should I be worried?

These are the things Reagan just said to me:

-Can I cut up my eye?
I of course said no, and asked why she would say that, and she said because I'm mad at her, which I'm not.

We were then talking about her 5-year-old checkup tomorrow, and I asked her if she's excited.
-Is he going to cut up my belly?
Again, I said no, and asked why she thought that.
-Because everyone thinks I'm a dummy-head.
I also told her that's not true. I'm not sure what her problem is.

And just now, she was trying to push buttons on the computer. I told her not to.
-If I push it, are you going to fire me?
I told her I couldn't fire her, since she's my daughter.

Carly the Crocodile

We got the official word today. Jenny has been cast as Carly the Crocodile in her school's spring musical, It's A Jungle Out There. She actually has a speaking role this year, in addition to dancing. So anyone who will be here around late April should feel free to come enjoy the show!

Reagan's Room

Now that Reagan has a nice clean room, courtesy of Aunt Charlotte, I'm trying to encourage her to spend some time in there and maybe even eventually sleep in there. We just had this conversation:

Reagan: Sleep downstairs or upstairs tonight?
Me: Upstairs. Maybe even in your room.
Reagan: But only by myself.
Me: Really?
Reagan: I went in there twice today by myself.
Me: How was it?
Reagan: Fine. Nothing came in to get me.

Glad it's a safe place for her.

Happy Birthday, Reagan!

Well, Reagan's special day has arrived! And so far, things are working out for her. It's snowing outside, and school has been cancelled! And she's asleep!

This is how I think she'll be feeling today:

Special Day

I was looking at the forecast yesterday, and I noticed (in the certainly accurate 15-day forecast on Accuweather) that it might snow on Reagan's birthday. I told her that, and this was her response:

"And Morocco Bama's going to become president on my birthday. It's gonna be a special day for me."

I'm glad Obama's scheduled that for her!

Serious Questions

We're hanging out and eating dinner with Justin and Charlotte, and Jenny and Justin are coming up with tough questions for everyone to answer.

Jenny: What would be the best pet to have?
Reagan: A little, teeny mouse.
Jenny: A hampster.

Jenny: What name would you rather have?
Jenny: I'd rather be named Jenifer.
Justin: I'd be named Jenny.
Charlotte: I'd be named Jenny.
Reagan: I'd be named Jenny.
Lee: Thor.

Jenny: What is your favorite type of cereal?
Jenny: Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Reagan: Reese's Puffs.
Charlotte: Rice Krispies.
Justin: Golden Grahams.
Lee: Shredded Wheat.
Katie: Lucky Charms.
Reagan: I changed my mind and want to do Lucky Charms cereal.

Justin: If you could wear one accessory, what would it be?
Jenny: A pocketbook full of 99 trillion dollars.
Lee: I might like to use a cane.
Justin: A really awesome hat. A really incredible fedora.
Charlotte: Some awesome heels.
Katie: Some kind of shoes.
Reagan: A purse.

Jenny: What would be your favorite movie?
Jenny: Date with the President's Daughter.
Me: Really?
Lee: What about Twilight?
Jenny: Twilight! I say Twilight!
Lee (modifying the question): If you had to be stuck in a room with one movie looping itself for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Reagan: A volcano with fire.
Lee: Episode III.
Charlotte: American Movie.
Katie: Sound of Music.
Justin: Fellowship of the Ring.

Jenny: What is your favorite show of all time? Your favorite comedy show. And your favorite other show.
Jenny: Mine would be iCarly. My favorite other show would probably have to be, um, I'm gonna have to say, I can't think of it. Oh, I got it. Ranma.
Katie: That's a comedy.
Jenny: Well, you get to do 2 comedies or the second one's not a comedy.
Charlotte: Arrested Development and The Office.
Reagan: I need a turn. iCarly and Drake and Josh.
Justin: Arrested Development. Evangelion.
Lee: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and PTI.
Katie: Friends. Gilmore Girls.

Jenny: What is your favorite book?
Jenny: I'd have to say the American Girl doll ones.
Charlotte: It.
Reagan: May I Please Have A Cookie? (read by Jenny)
Katie: Breaking Dawn.
Justin: Lord of the Rings.
Lee: Silmarillion.

Jenny: What is your favorite place to be in the whole entire world?
Jenny: Home laying on the couch watching TV.
Charlotte: Home in my bed.
Lee: Home in my bed.
Justin: That's really tough.
Katie: The bath.
Justin: I'm gonna say (something I didn't understand) in Patagonia.

Jenny: Would you rather have a worm farm or an ant farm?
Jenny: I'd rather have an ant farm because worms need lots of dirt and dirt is messy. No actually, worm farm, because worms need lots of mud.

Justin: If you could hang out with any character from any movie, who would it be?
Jenny: Kirsten Swan. (She means Bella Swan from Twilight).
Justin: The Balrog. It's really Gandalf the Grey for me.
Lee: Anakin Skywalker.
Charlotte: Cillian Murphy's character in Sunshine. Oh my god, I would hang out with Freddy Krueger.
Katie: Edward Cullen.

Justin: If you could hang out with any character from any book, who would it be?
Lee and Justin: Aragorn.
Jenny: Bella from Twilight.
Katie: Jacob would be the most fun to hang out with.

I'm done typing these for now. There were cooler ones before I started typing, but I can't remember them now.
