Vintage

Reagan's apparently getting into the vintage clothing at a younger age than her Aunt Charlotte. When Jo-Jo was here sorting through some stuff in storage, she brought back a box of dresses from when Charlotte was little (hope that was okay with you, Charlotte!), and the girls love them. This morning, Reagan chose to wear this to school:

And while it's not very clear, if you look closely, you can see that she's wearing her shoes on the wrong feet as she does every day. And every day I (and others) point it out to her, but she actually likes wearing her shoes on the wrong feet. I think it would be really uncomfortable.

And just so Jenny's not offended, I'll post a picture of her from this morning, too. She doesn't go for the vintage look, but she's still very stylish. Doesn't she just look too cool?

A Rock

The girls got to spend the day with Lee today while I went to work since I usually work holidays. When I got home, Jenny told me to be quiet when I came into the house because Reagan was taking a nap. I asked what she'd been doing, and she told me she was learning things from Daddy. Here are a couple things she told me she learned:

-She should never go to Africa. Since mosquitoes really like her, she would probably die from malaria.
-Apparently Jenny has thought for a long time that American soldiers are stuck in "a rock." Using the globe, Lee was apparently able to get her to finally understand that they are in Iraq.

And one other funny I forgot to post last week - we were watching Headlines on The Tonight Show, and there was one showing a kid's menu at some restaurant that had a cartoony picture of a dinosaur eating a kid at the top. Jay commented that it was a strange choice for a kid's menu - scare them off with a dinosaur. Jenny said that she hoped the dinosaur would eat her worst enemy, Lorelai. And she said it just like that - her worst enemy. Did you have a worst enemy in first grade?

Reagan's just her usual crazy. It's hard to describe. I'll try to come up with something later. She's waiting not very patiently for me to paint her nails (asking me repeatedly as I type this). "Mama, are you finished yet because I really want my fingernails painted?"

Trampoline Fun

There's a new trampoline across the street at Brittan's house, so that's where the girls plan to spend all their time. Here are a couple pictures I just took before I got on the trampoline and realized it's much more of a workout than I thought! As usual, Jenny's much braver than Reagan.

Then Reagan took a break for some water, and she walked around in Kendall's shoes.

And here's one picture from Jenny's Tae-kwon-do demonstration this weekend. She just did tae-kwon-do for 4 days after school, and this was the big finale. She had to break a board and everything. It was hard to get good pictures in there, but I did get one decent one.

Sunshine

While we're between events on this sunny day, I thought I would share a little Reagan video we just made. Her new haircut is so cute, and she had a song to sing.

Haircut!

Let's thank Reagan for giving me a great reason to blog tonight!

Who remembers when Jenny cut her hair off when she was 3? I do! Reagan really did a lot more than her since Jenny hadn't grown that much hair to start with.

So we were across the street at a neighbor's house today. I was talking to their friend Brittan's grandmother while the girls played. They were playing in her car, and I happened to notice when I looked over that Reagan seemed to be cutting her hair with some scissors. I found her with the scissors and piles of hair all around her. Here's what Reagan's hair looks like now:

Brittan's grandmother couldn't believe that I wasn't furious, but I just laughed. I told Reagan that she should never do that on her own, but I think it looks cute. I stopped her before it was too short. I've been wanting her to get a haircut because I thought her hair would start to thicken up. I just evened it up a little, but I think I'll need to take her somewhere to get it fixed. She just realized a few minutes ago that she doesn't have long hair anymore and wanted to know when it will be back.

A Poem by Jenny

We got a letter sent home today that the following poem of Jenny's is going to be published in A Celebration of Young Poets. I'm pretty sure it's one of those things that everyone gets published in when they're little, but either way, it's really cute. Here it is:

Jenny Eure
Jenny
Cute, cool, smart
Daughter of Katie and Lee
Loves myself, Mom, Dad, Reagan
Feels shy, tired, joyful
Needs love,
Gives kisses, hugs
Fears getting lost
Wants to see Philadelphia, great-great-grandma
Resident of Pfafftown
Eure

Things I noticed:
-I like that she thinks she's cute, cool, and smart
-Lee likes that she loves herself first
-I think she wouldn't feel so tired if she'd ever go to sleep, and she's far from shy
-I don't know why she's afraid of getting lost
-Uncle Mario will enjoy the Philadelphia part - obviously she's looking forward to our summer trip
-We talked about the great-great-grandma comment - she's not quite sure who this is, but she would like to see her. She thinks I will be her children's great-great-grandma, so she obviously doesn't quite get that concept.

Other funny comment from today - Lee showed Jenny something that said he was from Winston-Salem, NC. He asked Jenny what NC meant, and her guess was Nickelodeon. And we're not even fans of Nickelodeon!

Iron Man

Wow, I didn't realize how long it's been since I last blogged. Guess I'll just pick back up again.

We went to see Iron Man yesterday. Since we rarely go out to do something like that, it was a struggle to get loaded up in the car and go. I told Reagan she had 5 minutes to get in the house and get changed. Jenny then informed me that Wilson got out, and he was in a neighbor's yard, so I went to find him. Once I tracked him down and got Lee to help me get him, I headed back towards our house and found Reagan wandering in the street, wearing only her panties and her shoes. She was at least carrying her shirt and skirt. I told her that we don't walk around outside naked, and got her dressed. So we finally managed to leave for the movie.

Jenny was, surprisingly, the bad one at the movie because she was unreasonably scared the entire time. Reagan was fine with it. They were both fine when it was over though. When we got to the car, Jenny told us there were only 3 things she didn't like about the movie. I was going to have her repeat them and then list them here, but she just went back outside, so I guess I can't. Wait, here she is.

1 - I didn't like the part where they stuck his head into the water.
2 - I didn't like the end when they fighted.
3 - I didn't like the part when they had that big fight and the side of that man's head got hurt.
And I have a fourth.
4 - I did not like the part when he started to take the children and like take them away from their moms and dads and along with that I didn't like the part when Iron Man got hurt on the roof.

And my observant 6-year-old did ask at the beginning when Tony Stark and some woman went back to his place if they slept together. And then when that same woman was on later, she said, "Is that the one he had sex with?"

Reagan loudly asked a lot of random things during the movie, but I can't remember all of them. I think they were mostly about whether or not Iron Man was dead, or when Tony Stark was going to be Iron Man.
