Weekend Funnies

Reagan and Jenny had a great time at Marcus and Catherine's wedding reception. They stayed at the party later than Lee and I did, and when Reagan got home, I asked her what her favorite part of the party was. This was her response:

"Before we left, Marcus and Catherine didn't know how to kiss. Then Catherine laid down, and Marcus laid down, and they kissed."

Everyone else assured me that this was not how the party ended, but Reagan believes it!

Jenny did go off into the woods behind the reception with Catherine's little sister, Zoe. When we asked her what led her to believe it would be okay to go back there, she said, "Zoe said I wouldn't get into trouble." We informed her that Zoe is not in charge of whether or not she gets in trouble.

Jenny also wanted to go back to Catherine's house after the reception, and the way she phrases these requests always amuses me. "But I already told Zoe I could, and if I don't go, I'll be a liar." So of course, I'm turning my child into a liar because she promises things that aren't hers to promise.

This evening, Reagan turned to Lee and said, "Daddy, doesn't your sister always do what she wants to do?" That's apparently something Reagan learned this weekend, Charlotte!

We're hoping to return to normal life this week. We finally finished Harry Potter last night, so I'm able to focus on other things now!

Wedding Fun

Marcus and Catherine's wedding was this morning, and the girls looked so beautiful! We took Jenny and Reagan to Spa La-di-da yesterday to get their hair and nails done for the wedding, along with Catherine's little sister, Zoe. The girls make friends instantly, so of course they already love Zoe and want to do whatever she's doing. They actually managed to get all of Jenny's hair up there, so it looked great. The wedding was very small and informal and just included family. Charlotte was the main photographer and took some amazing pictures, but I'll include a couple of the ones I took here. Reagan came home, and I asked her what she did today, and she said, "Marcus and Catherine kissed!" She was so interested in that. Reagan was originally supposed to be the ring bearer, but she absolutely refused to carry the little pillow, so she ended up being a flower girl with Zoe, and Jenny saved the day by being the ring bearer.

Birthday Party

Here are a few photos from Jenny's birthday party last weekend. We had her party at Bounce U, which is an indoor playground type place with several large inflatables for bouncing. The kids loved it. Our biggest problem with Jenny is trying to get her to play with anyone besides her best friend, Brianna. Her card from Brianna was actually signed "BFF." She's six! She doesn't need to talk on the phone with her best friend every night to decide what to wear the next day.

She really loaded up on presents. Apparently we didn't need to get her anything!

She got a lot of makeup for some reason, so she spent the evening of her party playing with her friends and doing makeup, and the following day giving makeovers to me, Jo-Jo, and Reagan! We're still doing them. Apparently, the makeup will never run out.

Oh, Reagan!

I swear that Reagan gets crazier every day. On Sunday, she said so many funny things that I didn't get to write down while they were fresh in my mind. Here are a couple I do remember.

Reagan was eating a corn dog for dinner, and it broke. She said, "Oh my goodness. This hotdog just broke." And broke comes out as two syllables from her - "ba-roke."

It was just hilarious the way she said it, so I said, "Reagan, you and your attitude."

Reagan's response: "I'm not an attitude; you're an attitude."

A couple minutes later, I said, "I was starving. I feel like I'm scarfing down this food."

Reagan's response: "I'm scarfing down my pee." The pee jokes never get old.

I'll try to post pictures from Jenny's fun birthday party tonight.

Birthday Girl!

Jenny turned 6 yesterday, and she's just as spoiled as ever. She got a new iPod Shuffle (which I don't have a picture of yet), and a new American Girl doll to go with my old Kirsten doll, along with lots of clothes for her and her dolls. And that's before the birthday party!

Before she went to sleep Tuesday night, she kept coming back down for more hugs, saying, "Don't you want one more hug from the 5-year-old? This is the last time you'll see me as a 5-year-old except in pictures." Which of course caused Reagan to join in - "Don't you want one more hug from the 2-year-old?" Plus, Reagan was furious that it wasn't her birthday on Wednesday (even though she got presents too).

Finally, I need to note that in my previous post, I forgot to mention the fun the girls had with Uncle Mario in Hilton Head. I'm not sure why it didn't come up in that brief post, but they were definitely happy to spend time with him. Reagan even gave him a new name - "Uncle Mario Mac Mac."

We're Back!

The girls, Jo-Jo, and I are back from our trip to Hilton Head. We went for a conference I had to attend for a work, and so the girls could have a little vacation. They had a lot of fun. Reagan finally got over her fear of the water. She keeps saying, "I went in the pool at the beach. I went really, really deep." And, by "pool," she means the ocean. I don't have any pictures of that because I ended up with strep throat for the third time in four weeks, so I didn't really join in the fun times. I did ride the boat with them on Saturday though. They were spoiled by Jo-Jo and Pee-paw (I'm not sure the best way to spell that, but that's how Mom spells it). They also enjoyed their visit from cousin Tara. Here are some pictures:

This one is from the first night we were there, when they went out to see Gregg Russell, who is a guy who sings to the kids in Harbourtown every night. Jenny has seen him several times, so she has all the songs memorized. Nice how she's forcing Reagan to participate in this picture.

Another one Jenny is forcing Reagan to participate in. This is after they got their new clothes from Tara and Aunt Bobbie.

This is how Reagan spent most of her time in the van. I rented a van for the trip so that we would have a DVD player to entertain the girls. It worked most of the time on Jenny, to the point where she wouldn't talk to anyone at all because she wouldn't take her headphones off. Reagan either slept, spent brief minutes happy with the movie, or screamed in anger unless Jo-Jo was sitting right beside her.

This one is out on the boat - you can tell how nervous the girls were about being out an open boat, huh?

I'll post more stories later when I'm feeling better!

The dollhouse has arrived!

Jo-jo has arrived, and she brought Charlotte's old dollhouse with her. It's hard to describe how amazing this dollhouse is, so I'll include some pictures. First of all, it's huge. The table is, I swear, ten feet long. It just barely fits along one wall of Reagan's room.

There's even a yard around the house with a little pool and a pond and a basketball goal. Here's another picture of Jenny at the back of the house:

And, just to show how much detail is in this little house, here is a picture in the stairwell in the house that shows two portraits on the wall - Marcus and Lee when they were little boys.

Needless to say, the girls are having a lot of fun with this. Jenny's been up there with the dollhouse pretty much the entire day. She was actually sad earlier to realize that we're going to the beach on Tuesday, and she'll have to leave her dollhouse behind - and we're going to the beach! Not somewhere boring.

Finally, I'll leave you with a piece from Lee's 4th Grade writings that I found this weekend.

These include Lee's original spelling.

The only Lie that can Jump Tall Buildings in a single bound.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

I used to be able to fly.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

With heat vision evil I did fry.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

and X-ray vison.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

The abillity to make nucular fision.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

I jumped buildings in a single bound

I used to have Superman’s power

I scared all the bad guys around.

I used to have Superman’s powers,

I gave Lex Louthor a fright,

But I broke my mother’s fine china,

And she bought some kryptonite.

A Couple Limericks

There was a man from bugota

Who sat in a bar and made soda

He got tired of it

And so he quit

And he joined the fan club for Yoda

There once was a lousy old cupid

Boy was he ever stupid

He did the strut

But didn’t wipe his butt

And went around smelling stupid

The Fight

I grabbed the toy. So did my brother. First bad langaue, then the punch he hit first but I got blamed cause I’m bigger. I ran to my room. I slammed the door. That’s when the fight began. Should I stay mad, No. But I put the fight in a little vault in the back of my head where it would always be. I alone knew the combination. I shut it and ran down to eat.

This Evening's Project

When the girls and I got home this evening, Jenny, as usual, asked if she could have a snack before dinner. We had some Oreos because I got them to make a cake for work earlier in the week, so Jenny decided that's what she wanted. Lee gave them the Oreos and a big bowl of milk. Jenny then decided that they should work on making Oreo soup for all of us. So they managed to crush up an entire package of Oreos into this bowl of milk. I can tell you - it's a very neat cooking process. Then Jenny got out 4 bowls so that she could give each of us a bowl of soup. She filled them up and put them in the freezer so that it could be a frozen treat. We just had them a few minutes ago, and they were actually pretty tasty. I'm glad the girls can always find ways to occupy their time. Now they've moved onto reading in the other room. Even though we have at least a thousand books in this house, they had to fight over one before agreeing to share, so they are finally settled down for this evening - not asleep, of course, but settled down.

Classic Photos

Do you remember when Reagan was born? Jenny was so excited and loved her baby sister so much. She did ask us repeatedly who bought the baby, but other than that, she was great.

When Jenny was gone to Hilton Head a couple weeks ago, Reagan told me that she wants a new baby. I told her that I just wasn't sure if I really wanted to have another baby since I already had her and Jenny. Reagan's response: "Let's put Jenny back." I explained to her that putting her back was not really an option - she's too big. Reagan explained to me that she just wants to make Jenny a baby again so she can go back in my tummy. And she just believes she's right - it doesn't matter how much explaining I do. Oh well!

A couple other classic photos to close this post:

Reagan Gets Down

Conversation I just overheard between Lee and Reagan:

Reagan: Why do you bite off your fingernails?

Lee: Because that's how I get down.

Reagan: That's how you get down from a ladder?

Reagan's Hair

Reagan was in the bathroom yesterday while I was taking a shower. When I got out, she said, "Mommy, I still have long hair." Which made me suspicious that she might have cut her hair. Then I saw the scissors and the hair clippings on the floor. Fortunately, she just cut a few little pieces on one side, and she has enough hair that it's not noticeable. There may just be a couple spots that won't go into her pigtails.

The Difference Between Jenny & Reagan

I think these pictures show the difference between the two girls. Someone came to take pictures at daycare this week with a horse. Reagan was scared to go in the building that morning because she thought the horse was inside, and she's scared of everything. Jenny was, of course, fine. Reagan is scared of everything new, and Jenny always wants to try anything.

A couple of things to notice about these pictures:

-Reagan's eye
s are so blue.
-Reagan has a look on her face like she's so scared but trying to smile.
-Jenny looks like she's ridden a horse before. When I asked her what she thought about being on the horse, she said, "It wasn't a horse. It was a pony." Like she has so much experience with either one.

Convention Fun

We went to our annual comic book convention in Charlotte a couple weeks ago. This was the first year we brought the girls along (except for when they were babies).

We met an artist named Karalyn the first day who was doing face painting, so the girls got their faces painted each day.

Day 1:

Both girls chose the princess look Day 1. Surprise.

Day 2:

The second day, Jenny went for something more interesting - the cheetah! Reagan decided to be a purple puppy. I don't have a very good picture of it, but it's in some of the pictures that are with people in costumes.

You can probably tell that Reagan has a tendency to hold on a little too tight. She doesn't really know how to just pose without hugging. She was also scared to have her picture taken with any of the men in costumes - even if they were good guys. She would yell hello to Spiderman or Batman from wherever we were though. I think that Jenny wants to dress up next year. We'll see.
