February

I was just going through Jenny's school planner for the evening. I have to sign it every night, and I noticed that she's been writing in the wrong week all week. I pointed out to her that she's been writing on the week that starts with February 26.

Reagan - Can I go?

Me - Go where?

Reagan - February.

Me - No one's going to February.

Reagan (in a very whiny voice) - But can I go to February too.

Me (repeatedly as this conversation continues) - February is not a place. It's a month, and we're all there. We can't go there.

As I was typing this, Jenny just walked in the room and head-butted Reagan, so Reagan's sobbing. I asked Jenny why she did that, and she said, "Sometimes when I get angry, I just feel like hitting my head on whatever's in front of me." I told her not to do that again.

And now Reagan's trying to climb in my lap while I type. I told her no and got her usual response, "But I really, really want to."

Remember when Jenny would bang her head against her bedroom door seriously hard until someone let her out? It was hilarious, and also alarming. But I'm glad it prepped her to work out her aggression.

I actually totally forgot about that until you mentioned it. I guess she was telling the truth about always needing to hit her head on something when she's angry.
