Graves

You would think this conversation would be one I'd have with Reagan, but it was actually Jenny for a change. She and I were headed out to the store yesterday and had the following conversation (or close enough to this).

Jenny - What's under graves?
Me - Dead bodies.
Jenny - Souls or just bodies?
Me - Just bodies.
(Pause for a couple minutes while we just innocently listen to music.)
Jenny - So she just died with a paper towel in her hand?
Me - What are you talking about?
Jenny - Grandmommie. She just died with a paper towel in her hand?
Me - Seriously, what are you talking about?
Jenny - I remember Grandmommie had a paper towel in her hand at her funeral.
Me - Oh. It was probably a handkerchief or something.
Jenny - So she died that way?
Me - No. Sometimes when people die, their relatives want to have a chance for everyone to say goodbye to them, so they take their bodies to a funeral home where they fix them up to make them look as good as they can and put them in the clothes their family picked out. The handkerchief must have been part of what Uncle Taze picked out.
Jenny - Ooooh. I thought she was just walking and fell down and died with that in her hand.

One other little note from the weekend. We went to Build-A-Bear yesterday with Brittan for her birthday. After you make your bear, you sit at a computer to make a certificate with the bear's information, and you give the bear a name. Jenny went first and named hers Angel. Then it was Reagan's turn. I asked her what she wanted to name her bear, and her immediate response was "Chickenhead." I vetoed that one, and after also rejecting Angel since that was the same name Jenny gave hers, we settled on Katie.
